Tea for Two

Hannah turns 7 in about 11 days!! Where, oh, where has the time gone?

Since we'll be on vacation at that time, and since next weekend is Easter, we let her have a small party with a few friends (one didn't make it so it was just Ella, her bff). She chose to have a tea party, so of course we had to decorate...and have tea!

Hannah made pb&j sandwiches:

And we found an idea on Pinterest we had to try:

Very tedious hanging it from our ceiling, taping it to the sides, taping extra to complete the look...let's just say, time consuming. But with Hannah exclaiming, "It's so beautiful, Mommy," and "it's super, duper pretty," I was more than happy to beautify the plain space!! :-)

Hannah and her wonderfully sweet friend, Ella
(Hannah was done with pictures at this time and ready for lunch!!)

I love this next one, signifies their relationship: close like sisters

And while the girls played, the guys had a "Dude's Day"

Andy took Noah to Pizza Hut (of course) and a local baseball game (what else!)

By the way, yes, the Blue Devils won their game!

Hey...what about me?!
And Elijah stayed home to play in the warmth. With Mommy and Ms. Kelly (who came for tea too!)

Happy 1st Birthday

Happy First Birthday Elijah Samuel!!!!

Friday, March 15, 2013 our little boy turned one...

...and is so much fun to be around, you can't help but want to pinch his cheeks give him a hug!!

We had a great day playing at Wallabies (a fun bounce house place for me the kids to climb, bounce, jump and play) on Friday with a few of Elijah's friends

Then on Saturday, we had a few friends over to celebrate with cake. And you always wonder, will the child love his cake? Will he even try this strange substance he's never had? Well...let's see...

The smash cake...all for Elijah:

Oh, did we mention we are walking? After months of "cruising" around the house holding onto walls, furniture, etc., at 11 months he let go and never stopped!

So at first he was hesitant...but after a few minutes:

Isn't this what you said? Dig in, right?!

Why, yes, I believe he likes cake!!! Elijah just may turn out like Noah, who lives for sweets!!! See the link for the video on the side that shows how much he enjoyed his birthday.

Well I intended to come back with more daily weekly monthly pictures and updates!! I guess I somehow forgot the Frazier family had a blog. (yes, I know it's been 3 months, sorry)

Well, let me just start by saying everything not much has changed and the kids are doing well. :-)

Hannah is almost 7 (can you believe it) and she has grown up so much. She is such a big mommy's helper, loves being a "second" big sister, still loves playing with Noah (one of her bffs) and Elijah and (on an academic level) is soaring in my humble opinion! She has been reading very well for a while and will read anything and everything!!! She is also (still) very much into taking care of her dolls, her latest being Sofia, who goes most places everywhere with us.

Noah also has grown up so much (he's 5 1/2). I didn't realize how much I thought of him as a little boy when he was the "baby" but lately I realize he is not. He is obsessed a big fan of any sports (currently basketball as he plays at the YMCA) and ANY time we have a free moment, he wants to shoot hoops on one of those over-the-door ones we have downstairs. He just loves to move! He is such a great big brother who is very loving to Elijah. Always wanting to give a not-always-gentle pat, hug, kiss, whatever. :-) He is doing very well in school as well when I get him to be still. We have been working on reading and he's been able to read many small books!

Elijah, well, I guess you could say he has changed the most. I mean he's going to have changed some within the next week because he's 10 months!! :-) He is really cruising and I keep thinking he will just let go and take off, but he hasn't yet. He is full of joy and loves anytime the kids try not even hard to make him laugh!! He is quick to find when the baby gates or doors are open and will go after any kind of gadget he sees the rest of us using (think cell phone, computer, remote, even cords!).

We're back!!

So it has been almost 7 months since I (Kim) or Andy have posted...I don't know why it's taken so long :-) but I know this because baby Elijah is no longer a newborn as shown in the previous post! Not to mention Hannah (with much less teeth!) and Noah have both grown as well!

However, this is not a "real" post, just an update on our name: Frazier family of **FIVE** (frazierfamilyoffive.blogspot.com). And a promise that I will be back on (tomorrow as soon as I can) with pictures and what's been going on since the last post. Or at least capturing a few of the many things that have happened since! (shall I give a sneak peak into what's to come? someone may be crawling soon is rolling and wanting to crawl)

Elijah Frazier

He's Here!!!!

Elijah was born at 3:04pm on 3/15/12
Weighed  8lbs and  0oz
And is  19.5" long

The before pictures....

We are no longer Frazier Family of Four...

We are the Frazier Family of Five....
(and yes, the blog name will soon be changing!!)

 Elijah passed his hearing test

Our family is so excited for his arrival! Here's the extended story of his birth for those that are interested:

We arrived at Johnson City Medical Center at 6:00am on 3/15/12 for a scheduled induction. Kim was officially 39 weeks and 1 day. For various reasons the doctor thought it would be best to schedule the delivery at this time instead of going to full term or beyond. By 7:00 am we were in the room taking a few final belly pictures and meeting with the anesthesiologist about pain management options. Soon after we met Desiree who would be our primary nurse up through the delivery. After another hour or so of waiting and preparations, Terri (Kim's mom) and Dr. McCarthy arrived around 8-8:30am. Since Kim wasn't much more than 2-3cm dilated the decision was made to take things slow and postpone breaking her water to start labor until 12:00 pm.

With some extra time on our hands, Kim was given some "food" (apple juice, jello, and chicken broth) while Terri and Andy went to the cafeteria for a late breakfast around 10:00 am. Contractions were steady for the next 2 hours but relatively mild until Kim's water was broken. After that contractions began to increase in strength and frequency coming every 1-2 minutes from roughly 2:00 pm -3:00 pm. Kim spent some time standing and walking to relieve some of the pain. Terri and Andy helped as able by massaging her back. Then just before 3:00 pm it was "show time." :-)

As the pain increased and was becoming more frequent, Kim elected to try some minor IV pain medication to take some of "the edge" off the contractions. We think it was called "fentanyl," which helped some but made her feel nauseous. An additional medication was then given to relive the nausea and soon after that just a few minutes before 3:00 pm the contractions were coming hard and Kim was ready to push. The nurse told her to do her best not to push just yet because our doctor was on the floor helping to deliver another baby! Kim did great at holding off while other preparations were made to deliver the baby.

At almost 3:00 pm exactly Dr. McCarthy made it in for the final delivery preparations and gave Kim the green light to start pushing. Within maybe 2 pushes we could already see the head, and by 3:04 pm Elijah was out! Terri got to watch it all happen while Andy stood by Kim offering a hand to squeeze and wiping her forehead. Andy cut the cord and Kim got to hold Elijah on her stomach for a couple minutes before he needed to be cleaned up, weighed, and measured.

Up until he was born we had not decided on a middle name. Relieved to learn it was indeed a boy (because we had no girl names picked out) Kim said, "Let's call him Elijah Samuel, he looks like a Samuel." Unknown to Kim, Andy was also planning to say Samuel for a middle name if Kim passed on the decision to him. Here is some of the reasons behind the name we chose for our son.

Elijah is Hebrew for "My God is the Lord" and our boy is named after the Old Testament prophet who proclaimed that boldly with his life. He is most remembered for a showdown with the false prophets of Baal in which he mocked their worship of a false god and demonstrated the power of the true God by praying that God would burn up an altar that he had soaked with water. He is also one of the only people in the Bible that never experienced death as 2 Kings 2:11 says "Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind."

Samuel was the final judge of Israel who led the people humbly and faithfully through times of great change. He was born to Hannah who prayed so intensely for a baby that she appeared to be drunk to Eli (the priest of that day)! Samuel was born after Hannah promised to dedicate him to serve God with his life. He grew up in the temple and later after many years of faithful service he appointed both Saul and David as the first kings of Israel. His life and story is one of Andy's favorite of the Bible.

We hope and pray that our son will learn from the positive examples of these men as he grows into the man he was created to be. We love him already for who he is and praise God for entrusting this precious life to our care.

Thanks for celebrating with us another one of God's gifts to our family, Elijah Samuel!

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!"
