Kentucky: Missionary Conference and Horse Farm

Oh let's see, time is getting away from me and I am wanting to blog so my faraway friends/family can keep up with us busy Frazier's!! I am finally painting the dining room and kitchen but since I just spilled paint and waiting for the cleaner to dry and pretty much the paint to dry for the top coat, I guess I will start blogging about our recent trip.
We went to Kentucky to attend the National Missionary Convention in the middle of November (has it already been a few weeks?!) Andy had thought of going a few years ago, but it's been too far. This year it was only four hours away. On our way there we stopped by the Cumberland Gap which was a tunnel through the Appalachian Mountains connecting Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. It was a beautiful place to stop and was about our halfway point.

As for the convention, it was awesome! Thousands of people from different nations all in love with God. What more can I say? There were tons of booths and the kids had place to go and play with other preschoolers while we were in classes or the night session. Good times!

On our way home, we had to stop by the Kentucky Horse Farm. I mean, you go to KT and you gotta see some horses. At least a few! We had fun walking around with the park pretty much to ourselves! Watched a 4-H group riding horses in the arena, rode some horses barrels, walked through a museum, and played in the leaves (since we can't do that here!!).  We Andy took lots of pictures and as the sun was setting, caught some beautiful horses grazing!

First snowfall of the year!!

This morning we got our first snowfall!! We woke up to partial snow flurries / sleet rain that finally turned into a small snow fall which turned into slightly more falling!! The kids and I were so excited that we threw on a warm jacket and went out and played! Then after being wet & cold and realizing it would last a little longer, we came in and got into our snow gear - snow boots, hats, scarves, gloves, heavy pants and snow jackets. (Sorry, but didn't get pictures of the second round of snow time and the said outfits!) We even found a small patch of snow drift, only about an inch tall, but still, cool! And since Noah kept asking about making a snow man (yes, even now!) I grabbed as much snow from the drift and balled it up and added another to make a snow man!! Of course, it was really small and looked more like ice, but to Noah and Hannah, it was great!!

Bella loved playing in the snow

Falling leaves of red and gold

Today I saw a somber and melancholy sight. On the way to drop Hannah off at school, there is a particular route I take because it goes by this huge, beautiful maple that has turned to gold. It has slowly shed more leaves and today, they disappeared were almost all gone, spread among the grass and the road paving my way.

I have thought of taking pictures of certain trees
as they change yet I have missed my opportunity.

So I went outside to gather what remains of our neighbor's maple. The changing leaves started bright and almost neon...now have turned gray, muted and sluggish, yet still beautiful. Just another part of the autumn season we all go through...changing and losing our leaves and taking on the bare coat of winter until we are given our new coat of bright greens.
