Saturday we had our annual Trunk or Treat 2010 Event with a grand turnout of (an estimate) 400-500 kids! We gathered our decorated cars in the parking lot, filled our trunks with treats, and had a blast. ;-)

A month before, I didn't really want to decorate! I knew Andy would do the van for the youth group and I wasn't in the mood. I had other things on my mind, painting my house (still), curtains, and a dress. Then weeks before, I had this idea of turning our van into a castle and since the SUV has a lift gate door, making it a tractor. I envisioned the project, brought home some large cardboard boxes and then they got rained on.

The day before I was working with my bummer of cardboard trying to make it stiff and straight to form my castle, first priority for me. It wasn't working, so I gave up to bring Hannah home from school. On my way home, I found the prize piece of cardboard!! There were a several delivery guys unloading a huge printer two blocks from us and this piece covered the printer. So I loaded it on top of the van, it was too big to fit inside, held on with a hand while driving and came home to work. (Reminds me of a time in high school taking a canoe on top of my VW Bug the same way!)
The cardboard fit nice and snug on the back of the church van, and with spray paint, a magnum sharpie black marker, and some duct tape....
